Bethlehem Foundation approves just over $50,000 in grants
At its July 23 quarterly meeting, the Bethlehem Foundation Board of Directors voted to approve $51,500 in grants, consistent with the vision, mission, and values of Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities (BLCTC).
In the Program category, the board approved a $31,500 block grant to support BLCTC program innovation, staff development, and community transformation & outreach. The Bethlehem Foundation has now moved to periodic block grants to BLCTC with defined parameters to allow staff and leaders to move with speed as needs and opportunities emerge.
Additionally, three seminary students will each get a $3,000 grant for their studies/degree completion, totaling $9,000. This reflects an increase of $500 in the quarterly grant per student.
In the Outreach category, Healing to Hope was awarded $10,000 to support 20 awareness-building sessions with approximately 400 Palestinian children, using art as a tool for healing and resilience-building. $1,000 was awarded to Lutheran Partners in Global Ministry (LPGM) to support solar panel water heater installation at the Community Cloud Forest Conservation (CCFC) campus in Guatemala.
The Bethlehem Foundation seeks to further grow its generosity, and Bethlehem members who actively volunteer with a non-profit organization are encouraged to consider the possibility of the organization making an application for a grant. We are especially keen to learn about organizations that support the vision and mission of Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities where there is widespread participation from other BLCTC or Spirit Garage members. In collaboration with you (the Bethlehem/Spirit Garage member) as a sponsor, the organization completes the grant application identifying you as the sponsor. Your participation and involvement does not guarantee an automatic grant but being an advocate for their work, your support will be carefully considered.
